Anguilla's combination of political and legal stability is unmatched. A British Dependent Territory with a history of Westminster style parliamentary democracy via a legislative assembly, Anguilla has functioned continuously under a combination of well-known English common law principles and local statutes since 1705.
In April 1993 the British and Anguillian Governments adopted the detailed Mokoro Report, which identified the financial services sector as a principal adjunct to Anguilla’s small and exclusive, world-class tourist industry. It was this Report, which formed the basis of Anguilla's extensive legislative redrafting project resulting in the comprehensive 1994 legislation package subsequently updated in 2000 and 2004. The objective was to provide the island with the most up-to-date financial services legislation.
Anguilla is a zero tax jurisdiction without foreign exchange controls. Legislation provides for a blanket guaranteed exemption from all forms of future taxation for a period of fifty years from the formation of a new entity such as a trust, company or partnership.
This combination of political stability and legal certainty, together with a British supervised regulatory system, ensure that Anguilla is an ideal political and legal situs for the creation and administration of your trust.
